Important Health Announcement: It’s Cold & Flu Season

A graphic with three cartoon faces showing symptoms of illness and the message 'Help Keep Our Schools Healthy.'

Our Nurse Health Services staff report that we have a high number of people sick in our buildings right now. Here is some information we would like you to remember if your student is feeling under the weather:

  • If your child has a fever today, they should not be at school tomorrow. If they require Tylenol or Motrin for a fever today, they should also stay home tomorrow.

  • If you need to give your child Tylenol or Motrin in the morning prior to school to “Get them through the day,” they should not go to school.

  • If your child has vomiting and/or diarrhea today, they should not be at school tomorrow.

Please do not send your sick child to school. Flu season is rampant right now. Thank you for your help keeping our buildings safe!

COVID-19 Info For Families

Our guidance for COVID-19 follows Washington Department of Health, Lewis County Health and Social Services and CDC recommendations. Common respiratory illnesses, such as Covid-19, flu, respiratory syncytial (RSV) and other respiratory illnesses will now follow these guidelines. Staff and students can return to work/activities once they have met BOTH of the following over a 24-hour period:

  • Your symptoms are getting better overall, AND
  • You have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication)

When you go back to your normal activities, take added precaution over the next 5 days, such as taking additional steps for cleaner airhygiene, masksphysical distancing, and/or testing when you will be around other people indoors.

  • Keep in mind that you may still be able to spread the virus that made you sick, even if you are feeling better. You are likely to be less contagious at this time, depending on factors like how long you were sick or how sick you were.
  • If you develop a fever or you start to feel worse after you have gone back to normal activities, stay home and away from others again until, for at least 24 hours, both are true: your symptoms are improving overall, and you have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication). Then take added precaution for the next 5 days.
