About Our Preschool Program

Teachers interact with children in a classroom setting.

Our preschool program at James Lintott Elementary School is is designed to provide a nurturing, inclusive and engaging early learning environment for every child. Led by certified teachers, our program focuses on meeting each student where they are developmentally, academically and socially, ensuring that every child feels valued, supported and ready to learn.

For Students Who Qualify for Special Education

Students who are not yet 5 years old by August 31st of the current school year, who have an IEP, and reside within the Chehalis School District boundaries are eligible for our developmental preschool program.

How does my child get an IEP?

If you suspect that your child has a disability in one or more areas, please contact our Child Find team at THIS EMAIL to request an evaluation or get more information on our Child Find page found at THIS LINK.

For Community Peers Who Do Not Qualify For Special Education

Our preschool programs have a limited number of Community Peer spaces each year for students who are at least 4 years old and who do not qualify for Special Education service. These students serve as peer models for their classmates, demonstrating age-appropriate developmental skills.

Preschool Resources for Families

    • Our classes are taught by certified special education teachers
    • We have a low (about 4-1) student to staff ratio
    • If your child will attend Kindergarten at James Lintott Elementary, they will get a jump start on knowing their new building
  • If you suspect your child has a disability:

    • The first step is to have your child screened through the Child Find program. Learn more about Child Find at THIS LINK.
    • Children should be at least 3 years old but should not have turned 5 by Aug. 31 of the beginning of the current school year
    • Enrollment takes place all year, so your child may join any time after their 3rd birthday

If you do not suspect your child has a disability:
