Incoming 6th Graders Info

Welcome, Class of 2032!

In the Chehalis School District, we’re preparing students for the journey ahead. In the fall of 2025, the members of the Class of 2032 will officially be middle schoolers! We know this can be an exciting time for students and families and it can also be a time when you have a lot of questions. In this page, you’ll find resources to help you navigate the next three years as CMS Wildcats.

Good to Know

Stay Informed with Skyward: Skyward Family Access is the tool our district uses to store family and student data. Once your student reaches middle school, many more of the features of Skyward become available. For example, you can view your student’s:

  • Grades and missing assignments
  • Attendance (including current day)
  • Schedule
  • Fines and fees owed
  • Completion of graduation requirements

In addition, through Skyward Family Access you can also set yourself up to receive emailed updates on your student:

  1. Daily attendance notifications
  2. Weekly grading updates – or grading updates if their grade in a class falls below a level that you set
  3. Daily, weekly or monthly progress reports for your student
  4. Notice if your student’s school lunch account falls below $5 (first meals are free at CMS but this is helpful if your student purchases a la carte items)

Transportation

If your student will ride the bus:

If you plan to drive your student:

  • In the morning, CMS students enter from the bus area side only. For student drop off, please enter the CMS parking lot using the driveway closest to the football field and pull through in either one of the two through lanes. Students release from all building exits so you may choose a place to meet your student. Please do not drive or park in the bus area before or after school.
  • Our parking lots can be very congested right before and right after school, especially on the first day of school. Please plan your commute to observe school zone speed limits of 20 mph on streets and 5 mph in parking lots
