Good to Know

3rd Graders Start Wednesday, Sept. 3 – In the Chehalis School District, our school year begins with a staggered start to allow our youngest students and their families a little extra support starting the year off right. This year, our 3rd Graders and their families will be included in this plan. Students in grades 4-12 will have their first day in class on Sept. 2 and students in grades 1-3 will have their first day on Sept. 3. That extra day will allow us to welcome our new Orin Smith Cougars and their families to their new building to meet their teachers, see their rooms and feel better prepared to join their peers at school the next day.

Transportation:

If your student will ride the bus:

If you plan to drive your student:

  • Orin Smith Elementary parents use the far left lane for morning drop offs and afternoon pick ups. If you wish to walk your student to the building, please park in a parking spot to do so.
  • Our parking lots can be very congested right before and right after school, especially on the first day of school. Please plan your morning commute to allow yourself enough time to observe school zone speed limits of 20 mph on the street and 5 mph in parking lots
