Welcome, Class of 2036!

Welcome, Class of 2036 – also known as the 2026-2027 school year’s 3rd Grade Class! Orin Smith Elementary School may be just across the way from James Lintott Elementary but the transition between the two can be a big deal for students and their families. Use this page to help you navigate your new building and for helpful information to help keep you moving along the right path in your Odyssey to Orin Smith.

Hours: 8:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. (note, this is 10 minutes earlier than James Lintott Elementary) 8:50 a.m. to 1:50 p.m. for Early Release Wednesdays

Drop Off Begins at 8:15 a.m., doors open at 8:40 a.m. and Tardy bell (AKA all students must be in class) rings at 8:50 a.m.

Meals: all students receive meals free of cost (first meal only). Families who meet income qualifications are encouraged to still fill out free/reduced lunch applications to qualify for other benefits. CLICK HERE to get started.

Fees: There are no student fees. You could be charged fees for broken or lost library books and technology

Communication: All parents in the Chehalis School District receive communications through ParentSquare. Your family will be added to the Orin Smith Elementary ParentSquare page automatically right after our annual Skyward rollover in mid July. CLICK HERE to learn more about using ParentSquare.

 

Good to Know

3rd Graders Start Tuesday Sept. 1 – Students in grades 3-12 will have their first day of the 2026-2027 school year on Tuesday, Sept. 1. There will be a 4-day weekend Sept. 4-7 for the Labor Day Holiday.

  • Orin Smith Elementary parents use the far left lane for morning drop offs and afternoon pick ups. If you wish to walk your student to the building, please park in a parking spot to do so. 
  • Our parking lots can be very congested right before and right after school, especially on the first day of school. Please plan your morning commute to allow yourself enough time to observe school zone speed limits of 20 mph on the street and 5 mph in parking lots
