A Message From Superintendent Rick Goble

On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff and students, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Chehalis School District.

Our schools are part of the heartbeat of the small, closely knit community of Chehalis. We are home to W.F. West High School (grades 9-12), Chehalis Middle School (grades 6-8), Orin Smith Elementary (grades 3-5) and James Lintott Elementary (grades Pre-K-2). Every school in the Chehalis School District is located within a 1-mile radius of one another, allowing for learning, mentorship and collaboration for our students and our staff beyond the walls of their buildings.

Statewide, our district is recognized for providing excellent instruction, strong athletic and extracurricular activities that focus on building character, a K-12 approach to exploring college and career readiness and innovative goal setting. We have experienced, committed and highly-qualified educators who care deeply about our students finding their passions and purpose.

We are proud to partner with our our community to create innovative programs and opportunities for our students. We are grateful for many Bearcat alumni who return to our district to give back as staff, donors and supporters.

In Chehalis, we are a team. From students and their families to staff and administration. Together we:

  • Prepare: Teachers are equipped to create innovative lessons and families prepare their students for learning by focusing on math and reading skills at home.
  • Engage: Families participate in the life of our schools and staff build relationships with families so we can work together to support students.
  • Asses: We check progress by using assessment tools. This data helps us make individual adjustments for students and set goals for our entire district.
  • Improve: Students use strategies they have learned to excel in their studies. Dreams and aspirations emerge as they explore future career pathways.
  • Persevere: Students and staff work together to create a growth mindset to overcome challenges in our path.
  • Achieve: After high school graduation, students know how to earn the credentials or gain the skills they need to follow their purpose, on purpose.

I urge you to explore this website, follow us on Facebook and Instagram and to sign up for our mailing list to find out how the Chehalis School District is preparing students for the journey ahead.
