Possible Snow in the Forecast - Winter Weather Reminder

Posted Date: 2/01/25 (:00 AM)

Chehalis School District families,
The forecast is calling for possible snow in the next few weeks. This is just a reminder that if winter weather makes changes to our school or bus schedules, information will be sent by 6 a.m. to all families as an urgent ParentSquare message, meaning you will receive a message instantly even if you normally receive an evening digest announcement. Here are some of the messages you might see:

  • 2-hour late start- all schools will start 2 hours later than normal and will dismiss at the normal time- 9:40 a.m. to 2:10 p.m. for W.F. West High School (grades 9-12), 9:50 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. for Chehalis Middle School (grades 6-8) and 10:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m. for Orin Smith Elementary (grades 3-5) and 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for James Lintott Elementary (grades K-2). No AM preschool. Turning Point/Lewis County Alternative will have no morning session and building will open at 11:45 a.m. for lunch and afternoon session will begin at noon.
  • Schools Closed - all schools and facilities closed. No after school activities or athletics.
  • Buses on snow routes - all bus riders should follow the snow route schedule, which can be for either a regular schedule or 2-hour late start. You can access snow routes for elementary students and secondary students on our Transportation page.
  • No Message - Besides ParentSquare, schedule changes will also be announced on the Chehalis School District Facebook, Instagram and website. If it is 6 a.m. and you have received no message and nothing is posted on social media or our website, there is no change. Please do not call the school or bus garage.
