Technology
In the Chehalis School District, the goal of technology is to support and enhance student learning. Our software, hardware and network systems are selected based upon the needs of our schools and students. It truly is all about the learning.
Our team works directly with teachers and principals to ensure that teaching and learning are supported and the technology integration is seamless. We also work to ensure student internet safety and digital citizenship. Our filters, while not perfect, protect students from the negative aspects of the internet.
Student Chromebooks
If your student has been issued a Chromebook for school use, please be aware that if the Chromebook is lost or damaged, you may be charged for repair or replacement if the damage is intentional or caused by carelessness. For more information, refer to Board Policy 2023.
If your student’s Chromebook is stolen, we ask that you make a police report.
The fee schedule for damaged or lost Chromebooks is as follows.

For the safety of our students. internet service on district-provided Chromebooks is limited to 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for grades K-8 and 1-5 a.m. for grades 9-12. Using data from Linewize, the monitoring system we use on all district technology to look for illegal, inappropriate or dangerous use, we learned typical student internet use during these hours was not school related and was often inappropriate.
These limitations are for internet access on our Chromebooks only. Your student’s Google classrooms, emails, Skyward and ParentSquare continue to be available 24 hours a day. If your student needs to access these systems during the shut-off period, they can still do so through any alternate device with internet access.
