Choice Transfer Requests for Non-Resident Students

New process in place for current and new students

Please read this important process change below

Those living outside the school district boundaries who wish for their children to attend Chehalis schools may request a transfer. All applications for non-resident attendance will be considered on an equal basis as per school board policy BP 3141. This process is now handled by the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), and is where all inquires should begin. You can find the OSPI Choice Transfer Request Parent portal on the OSPI website at Student Transfers or by using the button below:

Current Student Requests

Complete your transfer request and submit your application to your resident district with the parent portal link provided above. No further form is required.

Annual Review

All transfers are reviewed year-to-year using the following criteria, and all accepted students are subject to termination of acceptance if the conditions listed are no longer met:

  1. Adherence to the rules for the school of attendance and to District policies and procedures
  2. Participation and academic performance in the classroom
  3. Consistent attendance

New Student Requests

This process begins with a visit to the Washington State Choice Transfer Request Portal. When you have completed your transfer application, your request will be sent to the Chehalis School District. In addition, new student transfer applicants must submit the form below to their resident school district and will accompany your request to Chehalis School District: Acceptance/Denial to Chehalis School District will depend upon the following:

  • Capacity and or space in the grade level or educational program requested
  • No history of disruption or disciplinary issues
  • Attendance
