Calling all Bearcats! Readiness day is almost upon us. Mark your calendars for Aug. 23 and plan come down to W.F. West High School for your group time: Seniors and Juniors can come any time between 8-11:30 a.m.; Sophomores and New W.F. West students can come any time between 12:30-3:30 p.m.; and Freshman should be at the school from noon-3 p.m.

During Readiness Day, Bearcats can: purchase their ASB card, yearbook and parking spot; get their school photo taken; pick up their class schedules; and ask any questions they may have about the beginning of the school year. The 2023-2024 school year begins for W.F. West High School students on Sept. 5.

“This is really to help students feel confident and prepared,” W.F. West Assistant Principal Christine Voelker said of why students should attend Readiness Day. “You’ll get to connect with staff and other students.”

While Readiness Day is drop in for grades 10-12, incoming freshmen are asked to plan to attend for the entire time frame of noon-3 p.m. for Freshman Link Day. During this event, 9th graders get to meet other students they will join in Career & College Readiness (CCR) class as well as tour the campus and take part in other fun activities.

“It just gives them a bit of a head start before the first day of school,” Voelker said. “They know who to ask if they have questions and it really introduces them to the Bearcat Way.”
