Distance learning for all starting September 1

A Message from Dr. Christine Moloney

Dear Chehalis Community,

On Friday you received our regular Moving Forward Together email that included an update on reopening and information on school supplies. However, we have just learned that the Lewis County Health Department has recommended schools open in an online-only format in the fall. Following their guidelines and recommendations, students will return to school this fall in a distance learning model. The news makes some of our back to school information obsolete, but the ongoing message we have been sharing remains – we are moving forward together!

I had shared with you last Friday that our new “normal” in life includes the likelihood of change and that we are preparing for a number of possible situations this fall, including distance learning. These words could not be more true in light of the announcement today from the Lewis County Health Department. Change can be challenging at times – but we are committed to providing an equitable education for all students.

We will continue to provide you with updates- and keep you informed weekly through Moving Forward Together.

Thank you and stay well,

Dr. Christine Moloney

Superintendent
